FEMA Denies Illinois Flood Damage Assistance Request

Springfield – The state of Illinois will not be receiving federal assistance to help those affected by the winter flooding. A letter sent from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to the state yesterday stated that the damage done by the flooding “was not of such severity and magnitude as to be beyond the capabilities of the state, local governments, and voluntary agencies. The state had requested the assistance in late February and it would have benefited several counties state wide including Alexander, Jackson and Randolph counties.
