Carbondale – Southern Illinois University Carbondale is announcing more than 180 potential staff cuts as the state budget impasse continues to harm education funding. University President Randy Dunn announced the potential layoffs in an email sent to university employees yesterday afternoon. Among those affected would be faculty, administrative workers and civil service staffers. President Dunn’s email also stated that under Governor Bruce Rauner’s proposed budget for the 2017 fiscal year, the university could potentially be forced to reduce their budget by $22,856,000.
