John A. Logan College Board Approves Lay-Off of 55 Employees, 2 Programs to End as Well

Carterville — Despite hundreds of protesters voicing their opinions, John A. Logan College is set to lay-off 55 employees after the College Board of Trustees Approved the move at a meeting last night. According to a report from the Southern Illinoisan, 35 of the 55 employees are full-time faculty members. The layoffs come as Logan attempts to navigate a $7 million budget gap created by the state‚Äôs months-long budget impasse. The college also made the decision to phase out both the Dental Hygiene and Cosmetology programs.
