Two Carbondale Men Arrested in Connection to Armed Assault and Robbery

Carbondale – Two Carbondale men are behind bars after allegedly assaulting a group of pedestrians and robbing them last month. According to a release from the Carbondale Police Department, officers received a report of a man pointing a gun at three pedestrians on the 700 block of East Grand Avenue the night of January 31st.  During an investigation it was also determined that another man had battered one of the victims and stole personal property. As a result of the investigation Matthew Hamilton and Dontae Smith were arrested. They are being held in the Jackson County jail. The investigation is ongoing.
