Five High School Students Injured in Perry Co. Crash

Perry Co. – Five high school students are recovering after a single vehicle accident in rural Perry County Tuesday night. According to an accident report from the Perry County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened when 18-year-old Sierra Benbrook of Pinckneyville became distracted while driving on White Walnut Road with four others in the vehicle. The car traveled over a ditch and eventually struck a light pole. Benbrook suffered severe but non-life threatening injuries. The others in the vehicle were hospitalized with minor injuries. Benbrook is being cited for reckless driving among other charges and two other passengers are being cited for not wearing their seat-belts.
