Carbondale Man Sentenced to 10-Years in Prison in Relation to 2007 Break-In

Carbondale — A Carbondale man is set to spend the next 10-years behind bars after pleading guilty to a 2007 home invasion in Carbondale that left a woman dead. According to court documents, Elijah Lacy, who was originally arrested in 2009, pleaded guilty to the charges in connection to the death of Falon Taylor, who was shot when Lacy and Bryant Maybell entered her home in search of drugs. Maybell fired the shot that killed Taylor and is spending life in prison. Lacy’s trial had been dismissed in 2010 when a judge ruled that his right to a speedy trial had been violated, but was arrested again in 2013 when the Illinois Supreme Court overturned that ruling.
