Cullerton Calls for Changes to School Funding

Chicago — Illinois Senate President John Cullerton is calling for an overhaul to the state’s school funding formula. Cullerton told a City Club luncheon in Chicago yesterday that he wants a system that sends more money to the state’s poorest districts. That would include increased funding for Chicago Public Schools.  He said Illinois’ funding of education is among the lowest in the nation and shortchanges the districts and students most in need.
