Hunting Totals up for Deer in 15-16 Season

Springfield — Deer hunting totals are up in Illinois.  The Department of Natural Resources says hunters harvested more than 155-thousand deer during all of the 2015-2016 seasons, nearly ten-thousand more than the over 145-thousand harvested last year. The largest amount of deer was taken during the two traditional firearm seasons, with nearly 87,000 tagged in the 5 days of open season. The DNR says that 54 percent of tags were for bucks.
