Cairo — Traffic is running normally on the US 51-60-62 Cairo Bridge after a barge struck the bridge last night. According to reports from the US Coast Guard, a barge struck one of the bridges piers at around 8:30 last night. Inspectors from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet were sent to test the safety of the structure and found no issues. The bridge re-opened to traffic at around 4:00 this morning. The cause of the accident is not known at this time.
