Rauner Praises Corrections Reform Panel

Springfield — Governor Rauner is praising the work of the state commission he set up to find ways to reduce the state’s prison population. At their meeting yesterday, Rauner said the group’s eventual recommendations would help to move the prison system away from merely housing offenders and toward effective rehabilitation. Rauner also told the commission members that the reforms would not only help return people to productive lives, but would also save taxpayers money.
