Nearly Half of Illinois Colleges and Universities Not Waiting For MAP Money

Springfield — A new survey says nearly half the colleges and universities in Illinois are demanding student aid money up front. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission surveyed Illinois schools asking if they’d be willing to wait for MAP grants, with 49-percent saying they can’t afford to wait any longer. Most of Illinois’ big universities, including SIU say they’ll continue to give students credit for pending MAP grant scholarships. John A. Logan College is still undecided.
