Illinois Records Warmest December on Record

Springfield — Illinois is coming off a record breaking December. State Climatologist Jim Angel says last month was the warmest December has ever been on record with an average temperature nearly eleven-degrees above normal. It was also the second wettest December on record with over six-inches of precipitation, mainly in the central and southern portions of the state, leading to flooding and disaster proclamations in several counties, including Alexander, Jackson and Randolph.
