Jackson Co. — Jackson County and Grand Tower Officials met with both State and Federal Officials yesterday to discuss flood predictions on the Mississippi and Big Muddy Rivers. Although Monday’s projected crest on the Mississippi has been lowered from a record high 49.8 feet at the Chester gauge to 47.5 feet. Vigilance on flood preparations was still encouraged by Corps of Engineers officials. Evacuation is still being recommended at this time. Residents needing assistance with evacuation or sheltering are asked to call 684-3137. Anyone evacuating should notify the Sheriff’s Office so that their home will be included on watch patrols.
