Springfield — The Illinois Department of Public Health says it’s still not too late to get your flu shot and avoid the risk of being sick for the holidays. According to the IDPH, flu season peaks between December and February. They say that the flu vaccine is the best line of defense against the virus and can protect you and your loved ones during the holiday. IDPH reports every season, flu causes millions of illnesses, hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations and thousands and sometimes tens of thousands of deaths. Even healthy people can get sick from the flu.
