West Frankfort Man Accused of Dumping Cousin’s Body in Missouri After Drug Overdose

Hazelwood, MO. — A West Frankfort man is being accused of dumping his cousin’s body in Missouri after a drug overdose led to his death. According to reports from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the body of Arthur Van Zandt was found in September in a field near a creek in Hazelwood concealed by vegetation and logs. A “probable clause statement” from the Hazelwood Police Department alleges that Arthur and William Van Zandt had used heroin before Arthur died, leading William Van Zandt to disposing of his body. William faces up to four years in prison if convicted on abandonment charges.
