Gov. Rauner Approves Stop-Gap Spending Measure

Springfield — Gov. Bruce Rauner has signed legislation that frees up billions of dollars for local governments. The legislation, which passed the House last week, was approved just hours after receiving unanimous report from the State Senate. Much of the bill will release tax revenue on motor fuel, cellphone calls and more for local governments. There will also be state funding to help low-income residents pay heating bills and to keep domestic violence shelters open.
