State Officials Set to Meet; Talk Budget for First Time in Seven Months

Springfield — Illinois’ legislative leaders are set to meet for the first time in months with Governor Bruce Rauner, but they’re warning not to get hopes up for any progress in the state’s month’s long budget impasse. The meeting, set for tomorrow, is the first sit-down conversation about Illinois’ long-overdue state budget between the leaders in seven months. Lawmakers say it’s good to see everyone talking, but they don’t expect a solution this week. Governor Rauner has pinpointed a January or February timeframe for expected movement on the budget.
