Manhunt for Jackson County Man Under Way

Jackson County Authorities are searching for James Bailey, who escaped police custody after a traffic stop late last night. According to reports, Bailey was pulled over in Elkville for pulling a trailer with no break lights. Upon investigating, officers learned that the vehicle had been stolen,  handcuffed Bailey and put him in the back of a police vehicle. Bailey was able to open the door moments later and ran into a wooded area near Haulage and Lichliter roads. Officers began chasing Bailey, but were unable to find him. A search began involving several officers and a K-9 unit. Bailey is still at large. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve, orange colored shirt, possibly blue jeans, a ball cap and camo colored rubber boots. He is 6’ 4” tall and weighs 235 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
