Rauner Temporarily Suspends Syrian Refugee Program in Illinois

Springfield (AP) — Governor Bruce Rauner has temporarily suspended the resettlement of new Syrian refugees in Illinois following the terror attacks in Paris.  In a statement yesterday, Rauner said the state must work to balance welcoming refugees with ensuring the safety of its citizens.  The Illinois Department of Human Services says 169 Syrian refugees have settled in Illinois since 2010, according to the Associated Press.
