Vacant Herrin Home Damaged in Fire

Herrin – A recently vacated home in Herrin is badly damaged after a fire early yesterday morning. According to a report from the Herrin Fire Department, fire crews were called to a home on the 110 block of South 10th street at around 5:50 yesterday morning, finding the home already fully involved. The blaze took around 4 hours to put out and left the home with severe fire and smoke damage. A report from WSIL states that the home was a recently vacated rental home in which the previous tenant had been evicted. Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire, and it remains under investigation.
