City of Carbondale Makes Changes to Police Chief’s Contract Just a Month After Hire

Carbondale — The City of Carbondale is amending recently named Chief of Police Jeff Grubbs’ contract just over a month after he was hired. The City Council made the change at a scheduled meeting last night. One of the conditions of the original contract was that Grubbs, who lives outside of the Carbondale city-limits, would have to sell his home and move to Carbondale proper, as the Chief was required to live within city limits. That was changed, and instead Grubbs will need only to rent or buy property in Carbondale and live there on most nights of the week. Grubbs in turn lost a housing allowance, but also gained in salary.
