Update: Manhunt for Carterville Man who Allegedly Shot at an Officer is Over With Arrest Made

Williamson Co. — Billy Jearlds of Carterville is in custody after a nine-hour man hunt after he reportedly opened fire on a Cambria Police Officer late last night. According to State Police reports, Jearlds was stopped in Cambria walking along Sycamore Street at around 10:45 last night. After a brief conversation, Jearlds took off on foot toward a wooded area, firing a shot at the officer as he fled. Jearlds was found and arrested this morning without complications near where the shooting took place last night. An ambulance was called to the scene to attend to an undisclosed injury suffered by Jearlds. He is being held in the Williamson County Jail
