Former Gov. Advises Rauner to “Get on the Right Path” When it Comes to the Budget Impasse

Chicago — One former Illinois Governor is advising Governor Rauner to “get on the right path” when it comes to the state budget. Former Governor Jim Edgar told political science students at the University of Illinois-Chicago that state government is failing and that the budget cannot be held hostage in negotiating other issues. Edgar did say that he thinks that most of Rauner’s proposals are good, but it’s his experience that they can’t be achieved all at once. Rauner has recently stated that he believes that the budget will be settled by the end of the year.
