Annual Fort Massac Encampment Draws Over 100-Thousand

Metropolis — More than one-hundred-thousand people gathered in Massac County this weekend for the annual Fort Massac Encampment. Re-enactors “battled” throughout the park while tourists camped, enjoying period demonstrations by acts such as the Lewis and Clark Fife and Drum Corps and learning the history of one of the state’s oldest forts. Re-enactments ranged from the French Indian War to the Civil War, all of which the fort was active during.
