State Entering Fourth Month Without a Budget

Springfield — With the turning of the calendar, Illinois is entering its fourth month without an operating budget. Governor Bruce Rauner and state lawmakers have been unable to come to an agreement on a spending plan since Governor Rauner took office in January, missing the deadline for the current fiscal year which began July 1st. Lawmakers have attempted to float a state spending plan that is as much as 4 billon dollars over budget, but Governor Rauner refuses to sign it until many of his policies are enacted. Legislators aren’t due back in Springfield until later this month.
