Williamson County “Prescription Drug Take-Back Day” Brings in Over 200 Pounds of Unwanted Drugs

Williamson County authorities received over 200 pounds of unwanted or expired prescription medicine during Saturday’s Prescription Drug Take-Back event. According to a report from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, they received 205 pounds of prescription medicine, along with approximately 41 gallons of hypodermic needles on the day. The program is designed to give Illinoisans a safe and anonymous way to dispose of expired or unwanted prescription drugs. The drugs will be disposed of by the DEA in an environmentally friendly manner.
