Merced Martinez, the Cape Girardeau man arrested in connection to a shooting in East Cape Girardeau earlier this month is being charged with attempted murder. According to Illinois State Police, Martinez was arrested last Saturday in Cape after an Illinois State Police investigation. Martinez is being held in Missouri currently, but efforts to extradite him to Illinois are under way.
