Former SIU Student Pleads Guilty to Sending Carbondale Campus Threatening Letters

Derrick Burns of Chicago has pleaded guilty to mailing threatening letters to the SIU Carbondale Campus. Burns made the plea yesterday in the US District Court in Benton. Investigators say Burns, a former SIU student, sent multiple letters between 2012 and 2013 threatening beheadings and bombings in several. Burns was arrested last year. A sentencing date has been set for December 8th.
