As expected, CARRIE UNDERWOOD’s big announcement on her Facebook Q&A yesterday is that she’s releasing new music. The album is called “Storyteller”and it’s out October 23rd. She co-wrote six of the tracks, and surprised herself with how old school they sound. Quote, “A lot of the songs I wrote and gravitated to ended up being more traditional and ‘twangy’ than anything I have ever done before.” The first single is out today, and it’s called “Smoke Break”. She and her co-writers landed on that during a grueling writing session when they kept finding excuses to go outside to enjoy the nice weather. She says, quote, “So, we wrote a song about taking breaks, and it [evolved] to how the characters deserve to have a moment to themselves, and whatever that moment might be for them . . . and however they may find peace. Just for a second. “Your life’s still going to be crazy when you come back, but you’ll be better able to handle it after you’ve had a second to gather your thoughts.”
