Zumwalt Jophlin Pleads Guilty to Murdering Daughter

Mary Zumwalt Jophlin, the West Frankfort woman accused of murdering her 8-year-old daughter and hiding her body has plead guilty. According to Franklin County Court Documents, Zumwalt Jophlin pleaded guilty to aggravated battery of a child, involuntary manslaughter and concealment of a homicidal death in relation to the 2011 death of her daughter Alexus Smothers. Zumwalt Jophlin reported her daughter missing, but police found her body in a crawl space under their West Frankfort home. Zumwault Jophlin was sentenced to 25-years in prison, and must serve at least 85 percent before becoming eligible for parole.
