16-Year-Old Behind Bars in Relation to Officer Shooting in Mounds

A 16-year-old is being held in the Franklin County Youth Detention Center after shooting an officer during an attempted arrest in Mounds yesterday morning. According to State Police reports, the shooting happened when officers were called to an attempted armed robbery at a home in Mounds at around 7 yesterday morning. The teen shot at and hit Officer Lyle Womack in the hip during the attempted arrest. Womack was hospitalized and is in stable condition after surgery. The teen is being charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated battery to an officer. He is being held on 1 million dollars bond.
