Two State Leaders Meet in Chicago to Hash Out State Pay Issue

Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Comptroller Leslie Munger met in Chicago this morning to seek guidance from a judge to clarify what the state can and cannot pay for without a budget in place for the fiscal year. Madigan filed a motion last week, stating that Illinois law prohibits paying for all government services if a budget hasn’t been approved.┬áMunger is looking for a court order that would allow the state to continue funding the state employee payroll.
