No Illinois state budget, no raises for Illinois lawmakers. That’s what Governor Bruce Rauner guaranteed when he vetoed cost-of-living raises for legislators yesterday. Those raises were to have between 1400 and 1900 dollars for those making between 68 and 95-thousand dollars a year. Rauner said Illinois’ lawmakers were already among the highest paid in the country. He also froze lawmakers’ daily expense money at $111 and travel reimbursement at 39-cents per mile.
