Illinois campuses now smoke-free

Yesterday marked the first day that Illinois college campuses were to be smoke free by law. But it seems not everybody got the memo. The Illinois Smoke-Free Campus Act was signed last year by former Governor Pat Quinn.  It outlaws smoking on any Illinois public college or university campus, indoors or out, including parking lots.  You may still smoke inside your parked vehicle, however.  Several students complained on social media that they were unaware of the new law, and only realized the change when told about it yesterday, or couldn’t locate outdoor ashtrays or cigarette butt receptacles.
