Court rules Hightower must quit Marion PD

A Williamson County judge has ruled that Marion Commissioner Angelo Hightower cannot serve as a Marion cop and as a member of the local City Council.
City policy considers holding both posts a conflict of interest.  The decision means Hightower, a 15-year veteran of the Marion Police Department, can no longer be a cop.  He now plans to look for another job that won’t conflict with his duties as commissioner.
Hightower learned of the potential conflict last April as he was being sworn in as Commissioner, and took the city to court. But late Tuesday, Judge Brad K. Bleyer ruled for the City of Marion.
