(AP) A southern Illinois group home is closing after the stabbing of two residents led to a $12,500 fine by a state licensing agency. A review of Illinois Department of Public Health records by the Southern Illinoisan shows the owners of the 26-bed H&S Care Center in Tamms agreed in May to shut down. A department spokeswoman said that will happen by the end of June. The state review followed the repeated stabbing of two residents on April 21. Forty-one-year-old resident Jule Woods was arrested on felony charges of aggravated battery. The Jonesboro company that owns the home for people with disabilities has until Friday to request a hearing to appeal the state’s decision. Its owners have declined comment.
