State Representative Fighting to Keep Sparta Complex Open

State Representative Jerry Costello II is asking Governor Bruce Rauner to consider keeping the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta open if cuts to state funded programs are to be made. Rauner made the announcement last week that the center would be among closings made to save money if lawmakers can’t agree on a balanced budget by the end of the month. Costello has launched a petition to keep the center open to the public, arguing that it boosts tourism in Southern Illinois.
