The northbound lane of I-57 near mile marker 58 is completely blocked after a semi crash. According to Illinois State Police, a semi pulling a double bottom trailer struck a guard rail in a construction zone on the highway. Once the semi is removed from the roadway, one lane of traffic will be available for travel while the guard rail is repaired. The single lane closure is expected to last for a majority of the day. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. Drivers can use Illinois Routes 37 and 148 to get around the area.
