Sheriff Warns of New Local Phone Scam

Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick is warning residents of a phone scam being reported within the area. Local Law Enforcement Agencies have received reports of a caller with a Jamaican phone number claiming to be from the “Publisher’s Clearing House” claiming that the victim had won a prize and that they would need to schedule a delivery date for the prize to be brought to the home. The caller claims that there are processing fees and taxes needed to be paid before the prize can be delivered, and asks for payment information. Sheriff Vick says that you should never give out any kind of personal information over the phone, and to call your local law enforcement agency if you receive such a call.
