Grand Tower man charged for driving without insurance

Orville Hobbs of Grand Tower is being charged for driving without insurance after a wreck on the Randolph and Perry County line that backed up traffic for several hours. According to a report from the Illinois State Police, Hobbs was driving south bound on IL Rt 4 approaching the rail road crossing just north of Pyatt Cutler Road when he failed to stop at the crossing gates and struck the train. The impact ripped a hole in the diesel fuel tank of the locomotive causing a significant amount of fuel to be spilled. The road was closed for several hours while crews worked to clean up debris, but was opened to all traffic late last night.
