Brantley Gilbert is always giving props to the members of the U.S. military, and now one veteran has given something to Gilbert that he could never repay. Army Staff Sgt. Justin Patterson recently attended Gilbert’s show over Memorial Day weekend and went backstage to speak with the singer and thank him for his work on behalf of vets dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Patterson first met Gilbert during the singer’s motorcycle ride for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Patterson praised Gilbert for his efforts and then reached into his pocket, pulling out his very first Purple Heart medal, which he gifted to Gilbert. The singer could only respond, “Are you serious?” He and Patterson then hugged each other.
Since that time, Gilbert recorded a video inviting Patterson and his wife to use his two tickets to this week’s CMT Music Awards, which airs live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday (June 10th). Patterson and his wife are expected to attend the event.
